SurveyThe purpose of the CDOT Survey Manual is to define the minimum specifications that shall be followed while performing surveys for CDOT in order to secure an optimum degree of statewide uniformity, to establish and maintain survey standards, and to improve the overall efficiency of CDOT’s survey functions. This manual is not intended as a textbook on surveying, rather it provides a reference source for statewide surveying policies, procedures, and information. Chapter 1 - GeneralThe history of CDOT’s Survey Manual is easily traced back to the 1960s. Prior to this date information is scarce, difficult to verify, and those individuals who worked as surveyors have long since retired... Chapter 2 - General ProceduresThe purpose of this Chapter is to define General policies and procedures... Chapter 3 - GPS/GNSS SurveysThe purpose of this chapter is to define the specifications that shall be followed while performing GPS/GNSS surveys for CDOT by CDOT surveyors or contract consultant surveyors... Chapter 4 - Aerial SurveysThe purpose of this chapter is to define the specifications that shall be followed while performing aerial surveys and aerial photogrammetry for CDOT... Chapter 5 - Preliminary SurveysThe purpose of this chapter is to define the specifications that shall be followed while performing preliminary surveys for CDOT by CDOT surveyors or contract consultant surveyors... Chapter 7 - SafetyThis chapter provides a compact source of the basic specifications and responsibilities for safety and health that will aid in preventing accidents and personal injuries while performing field surveying by CDOT or contract consultant surveyors... Chapter 8 - ResourcesThe purpose of this chapter is to provide the surveyor with an easy to use resource of information that will enable the user of this manual to reduce her/his library of reference material needed in the field... Chapter 9 - InRoads Survey / CDOT Best PracticesThe purpose of this chapter is to define the InRoads Survey best practices that shall be followed by CDOT surveyors or contract consultant surveyors...
