Maps and Restrictions for Extra-Legal Vehicles or Loads Updated December 22, 2014**

Extra-Legal Vehicles or Loads

OS/OW Loads are Prohibited from Travel when hazardous conditions exist. Hazardous Conditions include SNOW, ICE, MUD, ROCKS, WIND and REDUCED VISIBILITY. No Oversize Movement is EVER allowed where the Chain Law is in Effect. Overweight only are allowed to chain up and proceed as conditions allow. See Rule 2 CCR 601-4, 4-1, D.

MP 149 to Exit 163 - Monument Hill Rd to County Line Rd - Southbound

Reduced Speed Limit: Speed limits in this construction zone will vary depending on the time of day and the number of "through" traffic lanes.  The number of traffic lanes can be reduced to one lane, each direction, between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Sunday through Thursday.  Additional, the speed limit may be reduced to 45 MPH where traffic is reduced to one lane for construction.

Width restriction: No permits over 11 feet

Height restriction: No vehicles/loads over 14 feet 6 inches in height

These two restrictions are from 12:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m., seven days a week; until further notice.

--Ramps will be single lane ramps 24 hours a day, seven days a week.--

Width restriction: No loads over 12 feet through December 2014.  This restriction is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  On Tuesday Nov 25, 2014 there will be intermittent lane closures to remove overhead pipe.

Width restriction: No loads over 12 feet until December 31, 2014.  This restriction is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Length restriction: No permits over 90 feet traveling north on Hwy 287 to eastbound Hwy 50. Loads in excess of 90 feet in length should travel westbound on Hwy 50 to 287 north to Hwy 96 east to Hwy 385.

Width restriction: No permits over 11 feet until further notice.

Length restriction: Loads that exceed 85 feet length must have a certified pilot car in the rear.

Width restriction: Loads that exceed 13 feet wide must have a certified pilot car in the rear.

Width restriction: Permitted loads over 11 feet must pull over to get permission to pass through the tunnel.

Height restriction: Loads 13 feet 11 inches tall or less may now travel through the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Complete closure of this ramp until further notice.

Width restriction: No permits over 15 feet through October, 2015. This restriction is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   The work zone speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH.

Width restriction: No permits over 16 feet from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; through December, 2014

The Eastbound I-76 to Northbound Hwy 85 on-ramps and the Southbound Hwy 85 to Westbound I-76 on-ramps are not restricted.

Width restriction: No loads over 12 feet through December 22, 2014.   And on January 5, 2015 this restriction will be reinstated until January 15, 2015.   Both restrictions are 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

MP 100.0 to MP 101.3 (just east of I-25) - Both directions

Width restriction:  No loads over 11 feet through July 2015. This restriction is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

-From November 25, 2014 through January 11, 2015 there will be no restricted lanes due to the holiday break.-

** 90 Structure K-01-C at MP 15.2 that goes over the Dolores River is closed to all traffic, including any permitted loads.

Hwy 196 Between Hwy 287 and Hwy 385

Abandonment by the Colorado DOT to Prowers County in 2010. OS/OW loads wanting to use this former state hwy that is now a county road must contact Prowers County for permit/permission to use it.

Northbound and Southbound Lanes of I-225 at Alameda

Height restriction: No permits over 15 feet and 6 inches. Loads that are taller must contact the City of Aurora Police Department at least one hour before arrival at this intersection to arrange for a police escort to stop traffic so the load may exit and re-enter I-225 without traffic congestion or accidents. Aurora PD's phone number is 303-627-3100.
