Maps and Restrictions for Extra-Legal Vehicles or Loads Updated July 29, 2014**

Extra-Legal Vehicles or Loads

OS/OW Loads are Prohibited from Travel when hazardous conditions exist. Hazardous Conditions include SNOW, ICE, MUD, ROCKS, WIND and REDUCED VISIBILITY. No Oversize Movement is EVER allowed where the Chain Law is in Effect. Overweight only are allowed to chain up and proceed as conditions allow. See Rule 2 CCR 601-4, 4-1, D.

Width restriction: No permits over 16 feet until further notice.  This restriction is from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Width restriction: No loads over 12 feet until further notice.  This restriction is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through the project area

Width restriction: No loads over 11 feet through September 2014.  This restriction is from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

MP 162 to MP 149 - Woodman Road Interchange to the Monument Interchange

SOUTHBOUND Width restriction: No permits over 13 feet until further notice.  This restriction is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

NORTHBOUND is not restricted.

MP 149 to Exit 163 - Monument Hill Rd to County Line Rd - Southbound

Reduced Speed Limit: Speed limits in this construction zone will vary depending on the time of day and the number of "through" traffic lanes.  The number of traffic lanes can be reduced to one lane, each direction, between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Sunday through Thursday.  Additional, the speed limit may be reduced to 45 MPH where traffic is reduced to one lane for construction.

MP 207.991 to MP 209.479 (Alameda Ave to 8th Ave) - Northbound

Width restriction: No permitted loads over 8 feet 6 inches

Height restriction: No loads 13 feet 0 inches

These restrictions are until September 1, 2015.

Complete Closure will occur starting Friday, August 1, 2014 beginning at 10:00 p.m. until Monday, August 4, 2014.

All permitted OS/OW loads must avoid this section of I-25 by using C470 to detour around the west side of the Denver metro area.

MP 207 to MP 209 (HWY 85 to HWY 6)  -Both directions-

Complete Closure from 10 p.m. on Friday August 8 until 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 9; and again on Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Monday August 11, 2014.

All permitted OS/OW loads must avoid this section of I-25 by using C470 to detour around the west side of the Denver metro area

I-25 Under 88th Avenue - Structure E-17-LE - Both directions

Height restriction: The vertical clearance at structure E-17-LE has been lowered.  Please see clearance changes on Height map under the 'Changes to Existing Maps' tab at the top of this restriction report.

Width restriction: No permits over 11 feet

Height restriction: No vehicles/loads over 14 feet 6 inches in height

Length restriction: No permits over 90 feet traveling north on Hwy 287 to eastbound Hwy 50. Loads in excess of 90 feet in length should travel westbound on Hwy 50 to 287 north to Hwy 96 east to Hwy 385.

Length restriction: Loads that exceed 85 feet length must have a certified pilot car in the rear.

Width restriction: Loads that exceed 13 feet wide must have a certified pilot car in the rear.

Width restriction: Permitted loads over 11 feet must pull over to get permission to pass through the tunnel.

Height restriction: Loads 13 feet 11 inches tall or less may now travel through the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Abandonment by the Colorado DOT to Prowers County in 2010. OS/OW loads wanting to use this former state hwy that is now a county road must contact Prowers County for permit/permission to use it.

Northbound and Southbound Lanes of I-225 at Alameda

Height restriction: No permits over 15 feet and 6 inches. Loads that are higher must contact the City of Aurora Police Department at least one hour before arrival at this intersection to arrange for a police escort to stop traffic so the load may exit and re-enter I-225 without traffic congestion or accidents.
