Work on SH 92 Reconstruction in Delta County will be suspended for the winter,
from January 18 through mid-March
(weather permitting)
DELTA COUNTY - The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Tezak Heavy Equipment, Inc., will suspend construction for the winter on SH 92 in Delta County. This project, funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA), began on July 20, 2009; work will be suspended as of Monday, January 18, and will resume in April 2010 as weather permits. The project is set for completion by late October 2010.
To date, crews have widened, resurfaced, and installed all new sewer crossings on the first two miles of this 4.12-mile project. In addition, 55 percent of the excavation has been completed. When work resumes this spring, crews will finish the remaining two-plus miles of highway widening, complete work on the new storm sewer crossings, install concrete box culverts for improved drainage, and finalize asphalt paving, signing and striping.
This safety-improvement project received $9.6 million in ARRA funding. Work consists of reconstruction and minor realignment of SH 92 between mile points 9.7 (west of Delta) and 13.82 in Delta County. The reconstruction will add new climbing lanes and paved shoulders. Other project items include excavation and embankment work, drainage culvert replacement, asphalt paving, seeding and mulching, signing and striping.
In all, Colorado will receive more than $400 million for transportation projects and $103 million for transit projects statewide. For more information about how Colorado is putting the recovery act to work, visit
