It is anticipated that the majority of the roadway work on C-470
will be completed by the end of August with most of the weekend work
wrapping up in approximately two to three weeks.
This week, crews will be working during the day on Saturday and
during the evening the rest of the week. There will be no daytime
work on Sunday. The following closures will take place on
Saturday, July 24th, weather permitting:
Saturday, July 24th:
- Westbound C-470 between Lucent Boulevard and Santa Fe Drive:
One lane of westbound C-470 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Saturday.
- Westbound C-470 to Santa Fe Drive: The ramp from westbound
C-470 to Santa Fe Drive will be completely closed from 6 a.m. to 11
a.m. on Saturday. Detour: Motorists can take Platte Canyon
Road to Mineral Avenue where access to Santa Fe Drive is
available.
- Lucent Boulevard to Westbound C-470: The ramp from Lucent
Boulevard to westbound C-470 will be completely closed from 6 a.m. to
11 a.m. on Saturday. Detour: Motorists can take County
Line Road to Santa Fe Drive where access to westbound C-470 is
available.
- Westbound C-470 to Lucent Boulevard: The ramp from westbound
C-470 to Lucent Boulevard will be completely closed from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. on Saturday. Detour: Motorists can take Santa Fe
Drive to County Line Road where access to Lucent Boulevard is
available.
- Lucent Boulevard to Eastbound C-470: The ramp from Lucent
Boulevard to eastbound C-470 will be completely closed from 2 p.m. to 7
p.m. on Saturday. Detour: Motorists can take County Line
Road to Broadway where access to eastbound C-470 is available.
In addition to the daytime work on Saturday, the following closures
will take place during the evening hours on Sunday, July
25th through Thursday, July 29th, weather
permitting:
Sunday, July 25th:
- Westbound C-470 between Quebec Street and University Street:
One lane of westbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday
and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
- Eastbound C-470 between Lucent Boulevard and University
Boulevard: One lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8
p.m. on Sunday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
- Eastbound C-470 at Lucent Boulevard and Broadway: There will
be various temporary closures of the on and off-ramps at Lucent
Boulevard/eastbound C-470 and Broadway/eastbound C-470 starting at 8
p.m. on Sunday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
Monday, July 26th:
- Westbound C-470 between Broadway and Santa Fe Drive: One
lane of westbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on Monday and
continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
- Eastbound C-470 between Broadway and Colorado Boulevard: One
lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on Monday and
continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
- Eastbound C-470 at Broadway and University Boulevard: There
will be various temporary closures of the on and off-ramps at
Broadway/eastbound C-470 and University Boulevard/eastbound C-470
starting at 8 p.m. on Monday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on
Tuesday.
Tuesday, July 27th:
- Westbound C-470 between Yosemite Street and Colorado
Boulevard: One lane of westbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8
p.m. on Tuesday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
- Eastbound C-470 between University Boulevard and Quebec
Street: One lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8
p.m. on Tuesday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Wednesday, July 28th:
- Eastbound C-470 between Santa Fe Drive and Lucent Boulevard:
One lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on
Wednesday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.
- Eastbound C-470 between Colorado Boulevard and Yosemite
Street: One lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8
p.m. on Wednesday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.
- Santa Fe Drive to Westbound C-470: The ramp from Santa Fe
Drive to westbound C-470 will be completely closed starting at 8 p.m.
on Wednesday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday. Detour:
Motorists can take County Line Road to Lucent Boulevard where access to
westbound C-470 is available.
- Eastbound C-470 at Quebec Street: There will be various
temporary closures of the on and off-ramps at Quebec Street/eastbound
C-470 starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on
Thursday.
Thursday, July 29th:
- Westbound C-470 between University Boulevard and Santa Fe
Drive: One lane of westbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8
p.m. on Thursday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
- Eastbound C-470 between Quebec Street and Yosemite Street:
One lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on
Thursday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
- Quebec Street to Eastbound C-470: The ramp from Quebec
Street to eastbound C-470 will be completely closed starting at 11 p.m.
on Thursday and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
Detour: Motorists can take County Line Road to Yosemite or I-25
as a detour route.
Delays are expected during work hours and alternate routes are
strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all
traffic signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Fines
for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.
Concrete repairs on the C-470 bike trail will continue next week
between Broadway and Quebec Street from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday
through Friday. For safety reason, bicyclists will need to
dismount from their bicycles to get around the work zone.
This work is part of an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA) project. The $32 million project will repair concrete
along nine miles of C-470 and then pave the entire length in
asphalt. Concrete repairs will also be made along 26 miles of the
C-470 bike path between I-25 and I-70.
Castle Rock Construction Co. of Centennial, CO is the contractor for
this project, which is scheduled to be complete by the end of September
2010.
In all, Colorado received nearly $400 million from the Recovery Act
for highway projects and $121 million for transit projects. For
