US 160 and La Plata County Road 222/223 Media/Local Community Event

December 1, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - We are inviting media and community members to join us as we cut the ribbon on the newly relocated and reconstructed intersection of US 160 and CR 222/223

This safety-improvement project, funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, CDOT and La Plata County, culminates this construction season with the opening of the new intersection

WHEN: Monday, December 6, 2010, at 1:00 P.M.

WHAT: Access to the existing county roads 222/223 at US 160 will be officially closed on Monday afternoon. So before that happens, CDOT and La Plata County will cut the ribbon on the intersection with the new CR 225A. Representatives will speak to the project features, which include relocation of the intersection, auxiliary lanes, extensive drainage improvements, wildlife fencing and ramps, and more.

WHERE: On US 160 east of SH 172 (Elmore’s Corner), turn south onto the new CR 125A at the bottom of the hill (an easier, safer maneuver with the help of a new deceleration lane!)
