CDOT to Make Environmental Improvements to US 160 Bridge at Santa Rita

August 31, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - DURANGO – Starting tomorrow, September 1, and lasting through mid-October, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Alert Traffic Control of Bayfield will make improvements to mitigate future scouring of the US 160 bridge at Santa Rita.

Resurfacing underway on US 160 west of Fort Garland

August 31, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - ALAMOSA/COSTILLA COUNTIES – The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor APC Southern Construction Company are resurfacing an 18-mile section of US 160 west of Fort Garland (and east of Alamosa). The work was contracted to APC for $4.8 million.

Rockfall Mitigation on SH 145 Norwood Hill - No blasting or the resulting hour-long delays!

July 21, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - OURAY COUNTY – One of the first bridges in Colorado to be funded by FASTER legislation is one of Colorado’s most historic—the Bear Creek Bridge on US 550, just south of Ouray.

2-Day CDOT Maintenance Chip Seal: Top of Coal Bank Pass to South Molas Pass

July 20, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Next Monday, July 26 and Tuesday, July 27, CDOT maintenance crews will chip seal a section of US 550 about 10 miles south of Silverton.

La Plata County and the Town of Bayfield to Open New County Road 501 Bike and Pedestrian Path

July 15, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Durango, CO – La Plata County, the Town of Bayfield, and the Colorado Department of Transportation will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. for the new pedestrian and bicycle path along County Road 501.

July 9, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - US 550 Resurfacing Molas Pass to Silverton - SAN JUAN COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) begins a surface treatment project on US 550 on Monday, July 12 (traffic impacts may begin on Monday or possibly later in the week).

June 11, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Power out at US 160 at Santa Rita for several hours on Sunday, June 13; CR 211 in Bodo on Sunday, June 27 - DURANGO - The Colorado Department of Transportation is installing a battery back-up system in the control cabinets of several traffic signals in Durango.

US 160 Alamosa East Resurfacing Wins CDOT/Contractor Association Award

May 10, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - DENVER, COLORADO - The leaders of a $2.05 million Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Region 5 project that resurfaced 14 miles of U.S. 160 from Alamosa east received a 2010 Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) and CDOT Project Management Award during presentations in Alamosa on May 7.

H 62 Resurfacing Project Over Dallas Divide Wins CDOT/Contractor Association Award

April 28, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - DENVER, COLORADO - The leaders of a $9.1 million American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project that resurfaced 22 miles of SH 62 over Dallas Divide, plus three miles of U.S. 550, received a 2010 Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) and CDOT Project Management Award during presentations in Grand Junction on April 23.

April 13, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - RIO GRANDE COUNTY - The Colorado Department of Transportation has begun another resurfacing project in the San Luis Valley that will improve US 160 east of Del Norte.

CDOT Resumes Work on the US 550 Mineral Creek Bridge Replacement South of Silverton

April 8, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - SAN JUAN COUNTY – Work has resumed on the Colorado Department of Transportation project to replace the Mineral Creek Bridge on US 550 just south of Silverton.

Bridge Deck Repair on US 285/US 24, West of Johnson Village

March 29, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - The Colorado Department of Transportation is detouring traffic off the US 285 bridge just west of Johnson Village.

American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funds Accelerate Safety Improvements to US 160 in La Plata County

March 23, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - The Colorado Department of Transportation has begun another project funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) in La Plata County. This approximately $9 million project- which receives $4 million in ARRA funding- will relocate and improve the intersection of US 160 and La Plata County roads 222/223, east of Durango. Initial work underway includes relocation of utilities and roadside clearing in preparation for construction. Contractor Four Corners Materials of Durango has set a completion date of May 26, 2011.

CDOT, City crews clearing Camino del Rio/North Main (US 550) starting Tuesday night
