Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan

The Colorado Department of Transportation is developing its first-ever statewide bicycle and pedestrian plan.  The intent of this project is to produce a document that provides planning level direction and guidance for a unified approach to improving bicycling and walking in Colorado.

This project will be:

1. Identifying the vision, goals, objectives and strategies for bicycle and pedestrian accommodation in Colorado
2. Developing criteria and process for determining how the state will best spend its limited resources (what is the decision process for identifying priorities?)
3. Identifying how the Bike/Ped Plan (BPP) will align with regional (MPO and TPR) bicycle and pedestrian plans and how will it be integrated into the Statewide Transportation Plan (how will smaller, local plans feed into the BPP?)
4. Developing performance measures for evaluating the progress towards goals/objectives and improvements to bicycle and pedestrian facilities

In addition to an internal project team, and an external stakeholders group, the process is also being guided with the help of two consultants:  Sprinkle Consulting and Felsburg Holt & Ullevig.
