Highways to the Sky

Completed in 2002, this document includes an historic overview of highway development in Colorado and guidelines for determining National Register eligibility of roads and other road and highway-related resources. The context resulted in the evaluation of portions of eleven of the state's highways, which were selected for study based on their geographic distribution and era of construction. The Context led to the development of the Colorado State Roads and Highways Multiple Property Listing, which was completed by the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
