Welcome to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Program of the Colorado Department of Transportation

The NEPA Program is part of the Environmental Policy and Planning Section of EPB. Our mission is to provide training, support and guidance in NEPA. We are responsible for coordinating the formal NEPA document review process. As such, we provide review for statewide transportation projects to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and policies, as well as for completeness, clarity and quality. Our staff serve as partners to the Regions to support and assist the region environmental staff in developing and processing NEPA documents. Our goal is to work with the Regions to produce a high quality document that is technically accurate, easy to read, and facilitates the decision making process to advance the best transportation improvements possible.
