On Monday, March 21st, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began a widening and reconstruction project on Federal Boulevard (State Highway 88) between Alameda Avenue and 6th Avenue. The project will reconstruct and widen approximately one mile of Federal Boulevard in concrete to accommodate an additional lane on northbound Federal Boulevard. When complete, there will be three lanes in each direction with a raised median. In addition, the traffic signals at the Federal Boulevard/1st Avenue and Federal Boulevard/2nd Avenue interchanges will be replaced and sidewalks will be widened to eight feet to improve safety for pedestrians. Project UpdateCrews have completed the majority of paving operations on northbound Federal Boulevard between 5th Avenue and 2nd Avenue and temporary business access has been restored along this stretch. 3rd Avenue and Short Place remain closed for fire hydrant relocations, curb and gutter work and paving operations. This work is expected to take approximately two to three weeks to complete. In addition, conduit for new lighting will be taking place next week between 5th Avenue and 2nd Avenue and is expected to take seven to ten days. Following the conduit work, crews will work on sidewalks and driveways for approximately two to three weeks. In addition, starting on Monday, January 30th, Xcel will begin installing a new gas main line and relocating services from 1st Avenue to Cedar. Two Xcel crews will be working on the gas line work and the work is scheduled to take 20 days to complete. Federal Boulevard remains in a temporary alignment and motorists can continue to expect lane closures on Federal Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. All work and schedules are weather permitting! Document Actions |
