Welcome to the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) online source for information on the I-70 Mountain Corridor. Here you will find details on environmental studies, current and planned projects, and Context Sensitive Solutions tools for the Corridor.

We're Shifting Gears

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced February 26, 2010, that a Revised Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (DPEIS) will be prepared for the I-70 Mountain Corridor to expedite the completion of the Final PEIS. The Revised DPEIS will be presented in a reader-friendly format that is understandable to the general public, and will provide the appropriate level of information required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for this level of study.

Over the past two years, CDOT and FHWA have been working with the Collaborative Effort -- the 27-member group representing towns, counties, state and federal agencies, environmental interests, the ski Industry, and other concerned stakeholders -- to develop a long-term solution to congestion along the I-70 Mountain Corridor.  The Revised DPEIS will reflect the Collaborative Effort's recommendation for content, format, and desired outcomes. With consensus and support from the Collaborative Effort, CDOT and FHWA stand poised to finish the PEIS and to begin making meaningful improvements to the I-70 Mountain Corridor.

The Revised DPEIS, once complete, will be made available for public review for a 60-day period on September 10, 2010 , with public hearings in October. Click here for more information on the Revised DPEIS.
