I-25 and Fillmore Street Interchange
The purpose of the project is to improve safety and traffic flow to meet existing and future travel demands. It will incorporate a unique design called a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), which weaves traffic onto the opposite side of the road as Fillmore travels across I-25. It will be the first one along the Front Range.
DDIs have been constructed in only a few states since 2009. Traffic engineers say DDIs are safer and more efficient than conventional interchanges in heavy traffic areas.
Work on the interchange is scheduled to begin January 2015 and estimated to be completed Summer 2016.
