4th Street Bridge Construction Project

Traffic Impacts:
There will be one lane closures in the westbound direction Monday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. The majority of this project is being constructed with minimal traffic impacts but unfortunately some of these lane closures are required but will be minimized.

 

March activities:  
  • Westbound bridge construction of pedestrian rail and safety barrier.
  • Eastbound bridge segments under construction.
  • Construction of westbound roadway curb and sidewalk.
  • Preparing for traffic switch to westbound bridge in April.

 

The Northside sidewalk will remain closed for the duration of the project. Please use loop ramp on East end of project to cross 4th street. 

The pedestrian trail under the 4th Street bridge, adjacent to the Arkansas River, will close from November 30, 2009 through January 8, 2010 for lowering falsework from the Span 1 section of the new eastbound bridge.

The construction of 4th street bridge was officially awarded to Flatiron Constructors as of Oct. 18th, 2007. Flatiron Constructors had the low bid for the bridge at $27,657,855.00 for construction bid items. The total cost for CDOT to build the bridge will be $35,528,190.
