US 160 Durango

SEMA Construction, Inc. completed the first two (of three) project phases to widen US 160 through Grandview (MM 88-90), east of Durango, and to construct an interchange. The third and final phase was constructed by contractor Kiewit Infrastructure Company, completing the interchange in late November 2011. The project phases and costs are as follows (NOTE: costs reflect total project amounts, not contract amounts awarded):

PHASE 1: (July 2008 to September 2010, SEMA Construction) US 160 widening with a 4th lane (a 2/3-mile second westbound lane through Grandview) and partial interchange construction, including 4 bridges, six retaining walls, drainage, environmental mitigation, earthwork for shared-use path; TOTAL: $34,434,604 (news release)

PHASE 2: (Sept. 2009 to May 2010, SEMA Construction) Ramp B, eastbound US 160 on-ramp; TOTAL: $4,000,000 (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Funds) (news release)

PHASE 3: (April 2011 to late November, Kiewit Infrastructure Company) US 160 Interchange ramp tie-ins and paving, concrete roundabout, completion of 2,020-foot shared-use path, drainage work, completion of fully-functional interchange; TOTAL: estimated $8.7M (news release)
