Maintenance Career Path

CDOT offers many exciting positions in the field of Maintenance. Our positions range from Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Electrical Tradesman and General Labor's to our most common position such as Transportation Maintenance Workers.

CDOT Transportation Maintenance Workers

CDOT has approximately 980 Transportation Maintenance Worker I positions.  There is a maintenance patrol located approximately every 30 miles along Colorado's State and County Highways. The State is divided into nine maintenance sections with the main office located in the following cities:  Aurora, Pueblo, Grand Junction, Craig, Greeley, Alamosa, Durango, Denver Metro. 

Transportation Maintenance I positions are NOT just driving positions!  Working outside taking care of the State highway and roadway systems through landscape, heavy construction and snowplowing activities are the primary duties within the position.

Work assignments are frequently performed under hazardous, high volume traffic situations including bad weather conditions at times. Night and shift work are required for most Transportation Maintenance Worker positions.   The following video will give you a better understanding about what our maintenance patrols face on a daily basis:
