Mount Evans (SH 5) and Independence Pass (SH 82) Updates

SH 82, Independence Pass, is now open for the season.  Temporary closures may occur when adverse weather conditions exist. The pass will close temporarily this Saturday morning (May 19) for the Ride for the Pass, an annual fundraiser for the Independence Pass Foundation. The pass will close at 6 a.m. and will reopen on or before 1:30 p.m. Those not involved with the ride will not be able to pass. For more information on this annual event (which typically would be taking place before the seasonal pass opening date of Memorial Day weekend) can go here: http://www.independencepass.org/.

Crews continue work to remove snow from Mount Evans.  Once all the snow has been removed, crews will begin roadway repairs for pothole patching, delineation, and rock/ditch clearing.  Mount Evans is scheduled to open by Memorial Day.  Updates will be posted to www.cotrip.org under Road Conditions as information becomes available.  Images of Mt.
